Vista doesnt detect ethernet adapter

i installed vista rc1 on my logical partition because my primary ran out of space. so far it looks pretty good, but for some shitstain reason it wont detect my NIC, (3com gigabit from my motherboard) and i know it goes without saying that kind of stuff should detect itself, vista or not
so far it looks pretty promising (vista), but anyone got the same problem? cant really decide if vista sucks if i cannot connect to the internet. maybe it is because i didnt install on the primary partition?
