Gameport Difficulties

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-01 19:33

So I just got a new soundcard with a gameport on it. The good news is that the sound is now louder than when I was using the lousy integrated soundcard. The bad news is the gameport is on the fritz.

The computer knows it's there, and it's a Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad that I plugged into it. But when I do the auto detect for it, it shows up as a Sidewinder 3D Pro or whatever, and says it's not connected. So I tried to connect it as a generic controller, but the properties show the d-pad up in the right corner, and none of the buttons work, even after trying to calibrate it. What's worse is when I hit the mode button, it says the gamepad is disconnected, which means it's detecting the right device. I don't know where to go from here, and I really would like to use this particular game pad, 'cause y'know it's the best one out there.

I don't have a USB gamepad. And they all suck anyway.
