trojan?

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-28 7:28

Okay, so I was playing an old game on my machine (megaman legends, whee), when suddenly, totaly out of nowhere, my machine starts going ass-slow...

I check my processes, and there's something called " wowexec.exe" in the list, one I've never seen before...

curious, I googled it, and checked http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/wowexec.exe.html about it.

... According to some posters there, it's a trojan... :/ Would anyone here be able to shed some light on this?... Is it actually a trojan, or is it fine? If it is a trojan, how can I go about getting rid of it?... Any help would be appreciated.

And yes, to note, there's a space infront of the " wowexec.exe"... I ended the process in my list, and it hasn't come back yet, but still...

I'm not sure if it was an indentation, which sites claim is okay, or if it was a space, which sites say is a trojan...

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing wrong with it. (Although, if you're afraid you've done something to get a virus/trojan, you should never judge by filename alone.)

The space might seem suspicious, but it's simply indentation to make 16-bit stuff stand out. See also:

Sites like the one you pointed to used to be a decent resource, but now they've become infested with idiots.

maybe windows system restore is doing its crud again, or your lame ass antivirus is scanning all hard drives, or lame ass defrag.. etc, etc

Don't change these.
