Gotz me a Dell inspiron 4150 that i got late 2002 and its taking mega long to start up. i ever did much with it was internet, emulators, programing, dvd video watching, doing word,and burning. cant go 45 mins without the bat dieing on me gotts to be pluged
2.2 ghz p4 w/ 512 mb under the hood for this one, HDD 40gb, GFXC ati 32mb,XP Home SP2
i reformatted like 5 times now still keeps on draging its ass.
do i upgrade or scrap it and get a new one with the duo cores?

Okay, so if I'm reading you right, your problems are that the computer is slow as shit and that the battery doesn't last long. There is.. not much that can be done about the battery, unfortunately. See, everyone knows batteries wear down, but what some don't know is that lithium-ion batteries deteriorate fairly rapidly even just sitting on a shelf. Odds are any battery you'd buy would be old enough that it wouldn't be much better.
The slow as shit thing, though, that's weirder. Not that it's unexpected, but a reformat and reinstall of Windows almost always clears that up, and apparently you've tried that several times now. Did you use your same copy of XP Home each time you reinstalled Windows?
See what scandisk has to say for itself. Your HDD might be just about ready to give up the ghost.
A new computer'd be cool and all, of course, but... you don't really need one for your usage pattern, and that's a lot of money. Of course, if you really need something with reasonable battery life, that's something else.
