My efforts have come to no avail, and so I seek wisdom on the Internets.
My computer seems determined to be killed either by me or by some annonymous virus or similar horror from the infinite tubes of the internets.
Currently what I have are a list of symptoms, and no idea what it all means, and so I shall relate each symptom and when it respectively began, starting with the seemingly most severe:
Recycle Bin appears Full (the Icon) but when opened it is Empty, I clicked the empty trash function anyhow, and I recieved the chilling message "Do you want to delete WINDOWS". This I discovered only minuetes ago.
Screen Resolution and colour are all shot down to crap, (800x600 and 4 Bits, respectively) and I cannot return them to their former heights by any means yet, including new drivers, system restore, or Windows kindly asking if it wants me to allow it to restore my video settings.
Special note, while in Safe Mode, NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY RESOLUTION OR COLOURS.
This began hours ago after my return from lunch, which lasted all of an hour.
Any and all attempts to restore my video settings have resulted in the instanteous crash and restart of my computer, with a brief interlude provided by the fleeting image of white on blue text(that from some frequent viewing) indicates it is some sort of error message, though not the normal Blue Screen of Death.
I need help, as I am very close to commiting mass repurposing of my computer (computation and entertainment terminal to ogre sized paperwieght) with an axe, sword, cinderblock, or any other instrument of violence or means of destruction.
