How do I encrypt it/password it. I'm the only user on the computer, but I don't want people to have immediate access to it.
So, help a brotha out?

OS X's secure disk images make this so much easier. You can use the weird encrypt feature of NTFS if you want (it's in the Properties) but be warned, the folder will become unreadable if you have to trash your Windows install as I believe it stores the key in the registry.
Have you considered a password-protected zip\rar\etc?

How secret are we talking, and how stupid are your immediate friends/relatives/people who MIGHT gain access to said folder? Cause I've been doing well enough by using no obvious filenames (ie, if you want to hide porn, don't have anything with "PORN" in the title), and then simply storing a hidden folder in a complex nest of other folders. It works well enough, since few people around me would be smart enough or diehard enough to sniff it out.

If you already have WinZip, you could use that. You can tell it to encrypt it when you zip it. If you want to prevent someone who has a copy of any of the files you have encrypted from cracking the encryption, then put a zip file (which doesn't have to be encrypted) into another zip file (which is to be encrypted). When you unzip the contents, be sure to do the whole thing at once with the menu rather than clicking and dragging out single files at a time, or else copies of the unzipped file ends up in a temporary files folder. Now, when you are done with the unzipped copy, use a file shredding program on it rather than simply deleting it.
