OS selection menu problem

Name: Super Great OP 2006-09-15 6:20

Okay, so I have installed (and reinstalled) XP on my laptop several times, however the first two times the installations were either botched or became unusable (hal.dll)

As a result I have two menu options on my OS menu that lead to deadends during boot, but I don't know how to remove them from the screen. It's particularly annoying because one of the bad installs is set as the default, so I have to be very attentive for it to boot up properly. It's just a pain in the ass, anybody know what I can do about this?

OP here....goddamn /comp/ sucks ass. /g/ sends you here for 'support' and you get only idiots and trolls who never post and rarely post anything useful if they do. No wonder /g/ is so much more popular...

We want to send them back to /g

Anyways, do the following:

- If you are too stupid to have a PC, get a Mac, you'll love it
- If you are smart enough, Google

But maybe he doesn't use photoshop!

Obviously you have no idea who you are talking to. I'm the biggest  Mac hater that has ever lived.

Well, I DO use photoshop, but I use a lot of other things too (like games.) Also, I am dirt poor. So that rules out a Mac completely.

Then make yourself a hackintosh!
That way you'll get to enjoy OS X for a better Photoshop experience, and you'll also get all the entertainment of a system that breaks down all the fucking time for no reason without having to use photoshop, and of course you'll still get to use that unmaintainable spyware and virus target for your boring American videogames!

P.S. lol C:\boot.ini

BTW when hal.dll fucks up, you can save the install sometimes by booting the windows install CD, going to the rescue console thing, and using fixboot and fixmbr

Don't change these.
