slow burning

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-08 2:17

sometimes when i burn disks that: are rated at 16x, dvd decrypter says it can burn at 16x, and i set dvd decrypter to burn at 16x, it only burns at 4x (4.1) for the entire duration of the burn... wtf? if i wanted to burn at 4x i would burn at 4x, why is this happening to me?!?!?!

cpu too slow or ide interface doesn't support transfer speed

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-08 3:00

first off, no.
second of all, why would it stay at exactly 4.1x the entire time if that was so?
also, as i said it wasnt all the disks, just some of them (about 1/5), the rest burn at up to 15.7x
specs = athlon xp 3200 and ata100 hdd/mobo/cable/etc

Buy quality media like Taiyo Yuden or M Moore.

it happens on my taiyos too.

Really? Could be the burner's fault, though I'm not sure why it would be only some disks.

Strange. Taiyo Yuden are legendary quality discs. They can be burnt at twice the branded speed (no kidding), and used with a good burner, you get discs with a lower error rate than the originals had. My NEC ND-2500A will burn 4X Taiyo Yudens at 8X and produce SUPERIOR quality DVDs, great for consoles.

i use my nec nd-3550a. i know about taiyos quality, i can usually burn the 8x at 12-14x.
the 4x burning problem happens less on the T.Y.s, but it still happens.

There are other possibilities too - if your HD is tied up with other stuff it can be slow to access and so slows down the whole process.

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-09 3:35

my hd IS tied up with other stuff, but when i pause it it still stays at 4.1x, and theres the whole it stays at EXACTLY 4.1x. it doesnt go to 4.2x and it doesnt drop to 4.0x, its at 4.1x.

Don't change these.
