Getting torrent block

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-06 13:33

My college campus blocks torrent file extensions and doesnt let the download start. I have googled it, and am difficult finding relevant info. Anybody know how to get around the block?

I circumvent my Uni's firewall with the following software:

  bittorrent-curses.py -> tsocks -> Tor

It's slower than a direct connection to the Internet, but it works.

Will the above work for windows?

bittorrent over tor is like a poor man's freenet...

I could never get Freenet to work through a firewall that I don't control.

Windows makes everything harder.  I know Tor works fine under Windows.  If your BitTorrent client supports SOCKS proxies, then just set it to use localhost:9050.

If not, you'll have to use something like tsocks on UNIX: SocksCap ( http://www.socks.permeo.com/Download/SocksCapDownload/index.asp ) or FreeCap ( http://www.freecap.ru/eng/ ).  Pick one, then figure out how to get your BitTorrent client to use it.

Only BitTorrent is actually useful, and Freenet is piss slow (you request pages today, wait for tomorrow to arrive) and it's full of pedo shit.

Don't change these.
