Rule 1 - If you are using Windows and you are about to use the words "randomly reboots" or "reboots all of a sudden", DO THIS before you ask your question:
A. Start->Control Panel->System->Advanced->Startup and Recovery->UNCHECK the option that says "Automatically restart."
B. Wait until your computer BSODs. Then post your question. If it reboots without a BSOD it's power supply related!
Rule 2 - WE CANNOT MAGICALLY BRING BACK YOUR DEAD HD TO LIFE. YOU ARE SCREWED IF YOUR HD HAS CRASHED. BACKUP YOUR SHIT.
Rule 3 - If you can't delete files under Windows, google a program called "Unlocker" and it will take care of all your problems.
Rule 4 - What kind of computer would we buy? What parts would we buy? Well, we'd figure out how much we had to spend, go to newegg.com or tigerdirect.com, and find the best stuff for the lowest prices. Basically, NEXT TIME WE'D DO A LITTLE RESEARCH, like you should.
Contributions of other rules welcome.
Failure to abide by these rules will result in MASSIVE RIDICULE.

Rule 5 - Use Linux. How could you otherwise install binary packages?
Rule 6 - www.opera.com sure it sucks but hey, at least it's a closed source BINARY PACKAGE

Rule 10 - There are no girls on the internets. Only 40 year old homosexual pedophiles.
This thread went to hell and stupidity by the third post. GG /comp/! This must be why this place is called 4ailchan these days.

I totally disagree with only using for example newegg to check prices AND reviews
the broad mass can be fucking stupid
one example are computer cases, totally crap cases get voted like they are the best in the world but are just cheap rice modding eyecandy with metal that bends when you fart on it
get your reviews from serious sites and THEN go to newegg to compare prices etc

Low end CPUs and graphics cards are another great source of lulzy reviews written by penny-pinching morons who think Radeon 9200s and Socket A Applebreds are the most awesome things evar.
If you mean >>1, yeah, we'd like it if you'd help us help you.

I do not shop at newegg cause i do not even live in your fucking country
but I use it to see average hardware prices in USD
and to browse the reviews
NOT ALL reviews are bad, but like in all other areas of life the broad mass cannot be trusted, the percentage of people with actual knowledge is not only a fraction, then again even unsavvy shoppers can write a good objective review....
so i'd say 30-50% of the reviews are total bollocks, the rest is fine

The consumer reviews always suck. Few people will go out of their way to write a review unless they had a terrible experience or are a fanboy of the company/product.

This is false. We hardly solve any problems, but we rarely fuck people's boxes up.
Unless you didn't get "FORMAT", "www.opera.com";, "buy a new computer", etc. are inside jokes.
