I recently came across the soundtrack for Xenosaga III, but the files are CDImage.ape  and I have no idea what to use to play them.  What do I do?

p.s.  Still seeding.

Many software players support the playing of ape files, though you may need to download a plugin from the player's site.  If it is one huge ape file for the whole album, then you need the accompanying cue file which tells capable players where to find the individual tracks so you can skip through if you want.  The player software may need a separate plugin or script for handling cue files.

By the way, the flac file format is also used fairly commonly, and has similar usage as the ape, both being lossless formats where all music information is preserved, merely compressed, analogous to what zip files do.

Some players, in addition to the very capable Foobar2000 already mentioned:  WinAmp, XMPlay, 1by1, MediaMonkey, Quintessential Player.

For digital audio stuff, it seems the Hydrogen Audio forum is the place to read.
