unmountable boot volume

alright so my computer stopped booting with a BSOD so aparently my boot.ini file is corrupt but the troubleshooting i have looked up tells me to repair my windows copy but i cant get it to repair it just says i have to reformat my hard drive which i dont want to do but if i do format will it save side partition that i have?

i kinda know what you are talking about but try to make it clearer so i can understand it fully... do you have two partitions or just the one and also tell me where the data is kept... the partition windows is on or a the second?

This has happened to me way too often, and the only solution I had was to reinstall windows using a pirated copy that was able to install whitout formating the disk 
I suggest you to use a boot cd (ie knoppix) and back up then format and get a new disk to use as master

No need to repair. Get to recovery console. Then type chkdsk /r or /p and then when that is done type fixboot. Yes. Restart. done.
