internets is faster in Linux than in Windows

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-27 15:09

I notice I get at most 150kb/sec from a particular favorite site of mine when I'm in Windows.  I always thought my ISP was screwing me over, but when I'm in Linux I get full download speeds of over 400kb/s from the same site.  I also notice I get better ping times in Quake 4 when in Linux than when in Windows.

Is there any network settings I should tweak in WinXP, or is it a problem with Microsoft's TCP/IP driver that's beyond the part that they "allow" you to tweak in their proprietary piece of crap?

Windows sucks sure there's an ebuild for windows but it just get dropped to /opt, it's statically linked, and it's CLOSED SOURCE, which means that it is a BINARY package.

Yes, I use Gentoo. So? I dont see any problem. I embraced my Gentoo distro long ago and I am happy together with my workstation (that is a stage 1 box!). I have a fucking lot of ebuilds in and outside of portage and my CFLAGS are pretty optimized and solid.

But thanks anyway asshole. Go and use your stupid Debian while I EMERGE new ebuilds.
