first the region settings are unnecessarily stubborn and locked, AND NOW i find out that screencapping dvds is prohibited! EEEYYYYAAAAARGHHHHHHH.
fuck you, apple! fuck you and your restrictions! may you burn in hell!!

right, so that was a bit melodramatic, but honestly, what are they trying to protect by not allowing us to screencap? that we will use them to pirate dvds? good god. it infuriates me.

potential copyright? Ithink its the same reason you arent allowed to take cameras including still cameras in the cinema. (I dont know bout anyone else but my local cinema has that policy)

well yeah, but that's a stupid technicality. if someone want's movie caps for a graphic or whatever, they can get it from magazines and whatnot, lift them from the official site, etc. preventing dvd capping isn't going to drastically improve copyright issues. it just means that people will be more frustrated when they just want to grab a screen. ahhhhhhh.

1. Use VLC
2. Use Terminal to take screen captures of DVD's. (Google It)

Does Apple even give back a tenth of what they've taken from the open source community?
