Two hard drives possible?

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-23 19:06

I was wondering if it was possible to have two internal hard drives in the same computer, and if so, how.

...master/slave? This seems to easy, I must be missing something.

It is quite possible.  You simply have to have an unused connecter on your computer's IDE cable, an unused power connecter from your power supply (and have a power supply with enough spare power to run the hard drive), and you'll likely need to know the appropriate jumper configurations for the drive you are wishing to add to your computer.

look closer and you will find that it actually contains closer to 3.1415926 harddrives, though that is still not exact.

It is.. Simply have the jumpers set on the drive you want to be the master drive (jumper set to master) (the one the operating system is installed on) and the slave (set to slave) and plug them into a IDE cable with two available female pins to plug it into the two hardrives. Plug the slave into the middle set of pins and put the master into the top set of pins... the cable obviously plugs into the motherboard....

You may also have to configure BIOS to read the drives again but it should be very simple to follow
