Help me choose a processor?

Okay, I was thinking of using the 3.0GHz Intel Pentium D processor, but I hear that AMD processors are better and more efficient than Intel's.

Or, some other similarily priced AMD processor?

Oh, and, I made myself a budget for the making of the PC, so I'd like the processor to be inbetween $100 and $250. A little bit over is accepted, but not too much.

No, when they release the new processors, the OLD ones that you want will drop down in price.  We're not saying that you buy the new ones.
