Opera and Shockwave

I've installed Shockwave many times, because Opera wasn't reading certain files, but after I did, it still doesn't. Help?

Won't read them from HTTP, or from disk?

If not from HTTP, provide a link?

I don't think so. The space for the file is there (on the page), but mousing over it says that the plugin isn't installed and let's me click to bring me to the download page.

So you get a blank space, you click and install shockwave, you restart Opera, and shockwave still doesn't work?

What version of Opera is this?

i was using 8.54, then i upgraded to 9 (was going to do it anyway). still doesn't work.

i eventually just used IE to do what i needed to do, but i've noticed this not working for a while now, and it's making me angry.

That's strange. 8.54 comes installed with a flash plugin, and 9 uses the system-wide one.

Did you disable flash? Hit F12 and check the state of "Enable Plugins".

I've had bad luck with Opera 9 with sites that worked perfectly in 8.54 ... I'm sticking to 8.54 until they fix whatever is wrong in 9.

OP here.
I have checked that plugins were enabled and it is on. Also, when I go to the list of installed plugins that Opera generates (Tools-Advanced-Plugins), its lists NONE of the flash/shockwave plugins at all, even though I just installed them.
If you're asking what I was doing when it didn't work, then, being the /b/tard I am, I was actually trying to get Habbo to work (seeing what the fuss was about). When I open the window to start the game, it shows the ad at the top, and an empty box where the flash runs with the text "Plug-in not installed" inside. I click it and it brings me to the Macromedia download page.
I could care less about getting to Habbo; like I said, this has been a problem with certain sites (downloading from FilePlanet, for instance). Interestingly enough, flash vids from sites like AlbinoBlackSheep and Newgrounds work perfectly.

So, what do you guys think of this dilemna?

even though I just installed them.

Did you restart the application?

Interestingly enough, flash vids from sites like AlbinoBlackSheep and Newgrounds work perfectly.

Check that flash isn't being adblocked elsewhere?

http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=430

It lists the required dll. If the procedure doesn't work, just copy it over manually from your Firefox/Mozilla install.

Shockwave is only one of the many, many formats supported by Opera.
