WinXP Help (Videos no longer play??!)

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-01 7:49

I just reformated my computer and re-installed everything. While I was waiting for Battlefield 2 to install, I thought I would watch a space ghost episode right?

Wrong...

So first VLC starts up all slow, then I notice my cursor is laggy. I hear the sound fine and the video is nothing but black. My system starts slowing to a crawl and I end the process 3min later.

I figured it was because of BF2 isntalling, or the fact that I had not restarted since the recent windows update. After three reboots and the latest nvidia drivers. I still have the same problem.

What am I missing? I do also have dual monitors and I made sure my second one is disabled...and it is un-plugged right now. Still the same problem.

Oh and I have the latest version of DirectX through the DirectX web update installer from MS.

Little update;

I tried using WMP11, explorer crashes and when I get to the task manager the screen flashes a lot. But I can still end the process and everything returns to normal.

You have a couple options available:

* Recompile VLC
* Install Linux
* www.opera.com

I need to continue using Windows XP, and Opera is a web browser. That's not going to help.

I installed the earlier Nvidia drivers 84.21, and everything works.

So nm all.
