Planning on getting a new soundcard

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-30 2:29

I currently have an Creative Audigy Gamer, and what I've come to realize is that it's a piece of shit. Most notably in how it acts within games. All my problem with it revolve around an ear-fucking popping sound. Several guns in Halo PC have it, ePSXe has it, Call of Duty 2's rain has it, there are other examples, but that's not the point. I felt like boycotting Creative all together, but I've heard they got their act together.

I've been looking up on the Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music card, and it's pretty cheap, and seems to have gotten good reviews. What's /comp/'s opinion of it? I'm not a very picky man when it comes down to audio, just so long as it's glitch-free and doesn't make me want to bash my head into the keyboard every time I shoot my gun in-game.

Far as I know, creative cards only got worse after Live!

As far as I know, Creative cards only got worse after AWE 64 ISA. In particular, all their SoundBlaster 16 PCI cards fail hard, Live! software fails hard, and everything else fails too.
