so i just moved from stanford university, where they wathed my internet activity like fuckig hawks. but now im in a new house. I dont have my own network yet, but im mooching off a neigbors wireless. can i torrent safely now?

Ive been scared to because about 6 months ago colombia pictures threatened to sue me after i tried to torrent one of their movies. How do i pick safe torrents and not get caught, is it safe to torrent yet?

You can onion route BitTorrent traffic.  This is non-trivial, but you have to run BitTorrent in an environment with proxied socket syscalls.  You can set this up by telling tsocks ( http://tsocks.sourceforge.net/ ) to talk to tor's ( http://tor.eff.org/ )  SOCKS proxy.
