Image tagging?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-27 12:53

So, I've seen several image boards lately that use tags to sort the posted images into categories.  For example, if someone posted a picture of a race car, it could have several tags, such as the model of the car, racing, the track that the picture was taken at, etc.  Usually these boards have options to filter out or search by tag as well.  My question is, is there some software out there for PCs that can do this as well?  I have a ton of pictures that I've taken on vacations and the like that I'd like to sort out using this method.  Thanks in advance!

Yes there are, I believe picasia can do this. But remember that there is no normalization for images tags (except exif information of course). So if one day you use another software, there are chances that it won't read them.

OP here. I've used picasa in the past, and I didn't really care for it because the database files got huge and the program ran really slow when I added a bunch of pictures to it.

Danbooru looks like exactly what I want to use, but it looks like it only runs on linux?  Is there a program that mimics the features of the Danbooru image board?  Or maybe another one that works for windows machines?

Thanks again.

Don't change these.
