YOU CAN'T USE PCI SOUNDCARDS IN DOS

You can, but PCI soundcard drivers for DOS are made of suck or inexistent.

why is this anyway? also, from what i've read, if you have a soundblaster 16, you either don't need drivers for it, or its able to run without having a need for emulation. is this true?

what do you mean "ms dos"? DOS 6.22 or the CMD or COMMAND shells in XP or 2k or what?

from what i understand, some people are able to use a dos driver that emulates the sound blaster 16, though this method isn't guaranteed to work on everyone's computer
