My... Graphics Card.. Is Overheating..?

I get these bad stuttering problems after certain amounts of time in games. The game will stop and the last half second of sound will repeat and then after about a minute it will go back to normal. Will probably happen again. Processor heatsink does not seem to get hot. The hottest thing in the computer is the graphics card and it's too hot to handle 8)

Leaving the computer open and the fan on the heatsink seems to help the problem.

There are replacement cooling systems for the graphics would they be of any help? http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=40 This place has this.

how hot does the gpu get? they get pretty hot these days, but that's normal.
