Boot problem

When I try to run my computer, the BIOS go through fine and then it gets to thye windows xp loading screen and then half way through the load, the keyboard shuts off (the numlock light goes off atleast), and then the screen goes blank. The computer is still on because it's still humming and the monitor is still on. I already opened it up and took everything out and then put it back in and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

p.s. already tried www.opera.com and nothing happened

try booting in safe mode

It does't give me the option for some reason. I went into boot options and it only gives me the option of where to boot from and not in which setting to boot. Can't do it through BIOS either.

hit F8 after the power on self test to get the safe mode option.

I tried it in safe mode and it still doesn't work. Think I should just buy a new hdd?
