Oh noes Firefox ate my histories

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-18 7:57

So here's what happens:

Every now and then upon starting Firefox I'm faced with the history zeroed out. Which, you should imagine, is quite annoying. Every now and then means it can be fine for a month, or that it can happen a few times in a row. I fail to see any pattern here; the average is twice a week.

I'm on 1.5.0.4 currently, but the problem dates back far into pre-1.5 versions. Since then I wasn't able to pin it down. I suppose it happens when it fails to exit cleanly, but why? For the record, I recall it always happen when I close FX manually after work. Curiously, the history is retained if Firefox itself or the whole system (W2KSP5) crashes. I tried disabling some or all extensions, but to no avail.

Any ideas, anyone? No Opera advocacy please, I'll consider a permanent switch once they port a fully functional AdBlock+ for it.

I don't. In the settings I also unchecked all items except "Ask me before clearing private data".

Try SessionSaver, you have to set it to always-renew, though.

Sounds like a bugged profile, though.

What the hell are you doing with such an outdated version.  Go get a recent version now or die.
