Fixing up an old laptop

I was wondering, how feasible in terms of cost and work would it be to upgrade a REALLY old laptop (acer 1902 64 ram, 12gb, Pentium III, made in 2000). Also note that I have never messed with any computer hardware of any kind.

laptops, especially old ones, are a bit harder to upgrade since it's not as if you could switch out the motherboard for a new one. (Although you can, it's not easy or cost-effective). Still, if you found the parts, you could install better ram and HD by yourself, and even the processor if you track down the compatible parts.

But I wouldn't recommend tinkering with laptop hardware TOO much especially if you have no experience messing around with computer hardware. A lot more can go wrong when tinkering with a laptop than with a desktop.

Not worth it. Laptops are a nightmare to disassemble, although the hard drive and ram is easy to upgrade, IF the parts aren't several inches deep inside the system where you have to take apart a lot of it before getting to these parts.
