Oh no, virus ;_;

Ok guys, I guess I fail at the internet.

On MSN (yes, I know, MSN is fail) one of my close friends sent me a message something like "hey, check out this pictures of us (some link to myspace)" I was actually expecting pictures from him so I clicked. I had to download some sort of file, and when it was complete, my MSN started sending out the same message containing the same link to all of my buddies who were online. I wasn't able to message them back myself.

So anyway, I'm running constant anti-virus programs, ad-aware, all of that crap. I'm not too skilled in computers and internet, as you may have already guessed, so I'm having trouble fixing the problem.

Does anyone know what sort of virus this is? Is it fairly wide-spread? Are there tutorials online that can help me get it off my system? What does it do besides control my MSN? How should I go about curing my computer?

i know whats wrong.... First the program will be running in the background. So Under processes ind the task manager look for a suspicious program which shouldnt be running (A famous one for this is "blockchecker.exe", but there are others.) Once the program has been found, end the process, search your system for the suspect file making sure you check hidden files and you can simply delete it when found.
