req good video editting programs

anyone know any better video editting program than windows media maker?
i heard vegas was good but are there any better ones? thanks

I use adobe premiere pro. I don't know if it's the best, but it's what I use. I'm sure it's made for professionals, hence the "pro", but I use it just for simple video editing. It takes a long time though to output the done video even with 2 gigs of ram and RAID0.

I always disliked Adobe, I don't know why.

Adobe Premiere 6.5 for better avi format video editing. And Premiere Pro for slideshow clip, like JPG, TIFF or BMPs.

Adobe Premiere or Avid Express HD pro.  If your dealing with any type of graphics or complex video editing techniques, go with the After Effects.
