MS-DOS = borken?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-10 6:44

Sorry if this isn't the proper forum for this.

But for as long as I can remember, whenever I try to run a program in MS-DOS (usually some old 90s game, like doom, for instance) I get the error:

"(location of file)
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

How do I go about fixing this? I honestly don't know what to do, since I don't think I can uninstall ms-dos, or install a newer version, or what.

what os are you using?  older windows versions are running on top of dos, newer ones aren't
