ADSL problem

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-08 0:02

i can connec to my isp (my router shows the ip address; everytime i connect it changes), but basically the connection is not working even though it is obviously connected.

i have called tech supprot and the ip address with my router and theirs match, and i have tried every method they asked me to (flush dns, off modem etc).

it just disconnected 2 days ago while ive been playing wc3 with my friends. occasionally i can connect to my msn, but the connection goes inactive again a few seconds later.

im using dialup now, and exams are coming. i need the connection! Anyone ever faced the same problem or know how to solve it? Im 100% sure my PC is alright.

What does traceroute ("tracert" for the windows bunch) have to say?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-08 3:46

C:\Documents and Settings\User>tracert yahoo.com
Unable to resolve target system name yahoo.com.

my router shows this:

WAN
      Virtual Circuit
      Status     Connected
      Connection Type     pppoe
      IP Address     60.52.52.10
    Subnet Mask     255.255.255.255
      Default Gateway     219.93.218.177
      DNS Server     202.188.0.133

obviously its connected; i can score an IP.
However there is non-activity. wtf? the line is fine, put a phone to it and there was  no noise. Using said line now.

sounds like you can't access dns. can you ping the gateway and the dns server?

try some linux livecd and see if it works. if it does you know it's a problem with your configureation. if it doesn't it's somr kind of hardware problem.

I bet he forgot to enter the router as dns-server and/or gateway in his NIC-configuration.

its an ISP problem, i wrote an email to the CEO, and the tech called me the next day.

something about a rotten port i assume.

Don't change these.
