Well if we're gonna get picky, freeware is defined as any software that is available free of charge, which includes most Free Software. It is, however, not generally considered correct because of the implications of freeware (Hi, I'm Bonzi Buddy!) and because it loses information (Free as in GNU/Freedom!).
Sorta like how negros are members of the species Homo Sapiens, but we don't generally refer to them as "human" because I aint kin to no nigger.
