I need help with windoze. When I open task manager, the process "system" is constantly running at 99% and it won't go down. I don't know what wrong with it. It still runs at 99% when I start up in safe mode. This machine I'm working on is not mine, so a) I'm not going to install linux and b) no www.opera.com post. I would appreciate some help in fixing my "system" problem.
What's the PID of that process? I hope it's not the system inactive process... If so, you've been owned by Windows NT.
If it isn't, then you should stop using Internet Explorer.

I'm the OP. I don't know what the PID is. Where can I find that? Also, I need to use Internet Explorer because firefox isn't working on the machine. I tried posting the Hijack this log, but the log was too big for the post. I ran adaware and I only found one bad tracking cookie. Any ideas?

Uh... the system process contains the idle loop.
It always runs at 99-100% (in other words, your system is 99-100% idle, usually making HLT calls or lowering the CPU voltage) when your machine is doing nothing.
This is normal. Move along, nothing to see here.

The system idle process always runs at 99-100%. We're not moving along yet. This is the system process.

What the hell is the system process. Kill it. With -9.

If you open up task manager, the process is just called "System." It does not say anything else, just "System." That is the process that is running at 99%. I know that System Idle Process SHOULD be running at 99% and that is normal.

I thought anonymous was smarter than this.

If Firefox doesn't work (it works, you failed it), use Opera, or Links, just don't use MSIE under any circumsstances.

Do you have a system idle process besides that "System" process?

Yes, I have a system idle proccess and it's weird... it's running on 0%. Normally, System idle proccess is running at 99%, but this laptop I'm working on is the opposite. System is running at 99% while system idle proccess is running at 0%
I don't know what to try. I've tried Adaware, but it only found one cookie so I deleted that. I also tried booting with a BartPE bootable Windows disk with Adaware installed on that. Unfortunately, that boot cd freezes and the windows loading screen with the green/blue/gray loading bar.

Sounds like a registry problem. Delete all your registry keys, then reboot and download a clean registry from the Microsoft webpage.
