µTorrent ... or Azurues?

Pros vs Cons of each?

Flames are acceptable, but only with backing evidence.

µTorrent and Bitcomet are both very good, Azureus is complete fail.
µTorrent cause it's so small.

I've heard many bad things about Bitcomet, especially that trackers like to ban it because of it's leeching abilities.

uTorrent wins for being small.

rTorrent.

uTorrent uses very little memory compared to Azurues.

uTorrent uses very little memory compared to anything.
Compared to Azurues, uTorrent uses no memory.

Azurues = java = fail

I've tried both and right now I'm using uTorrent.  Feature-wise, uTorrent has almost all (There is the lack of user-controled kicking, but it's nothing major.) of the important features that Azureus has.  The big selling factor is, like some others have said, the efficiency.  Being able to play resource-intesive games and download torrents is something you won't be able to do as well with Azureus unless your comp has some really nice specs.  It really eats up the RAM and does a fairly good job on taking up your processor.

If uTorrent were ever to become cross-platform, Azureus would be roadkill. A tiny 150KB executable can do most of what Azureus can do.

Seriously, what possible reason could anyone on a windows platform have for using Azureus when there's uTorrent? It's kinda like a stinking rich guy thowing wads of cash in a fire just because he can; it's pointless.

uTorrent even includes a Tetris game, of all things.

I like Azureus more than uTorrent, but I don't remember why. Probably something that got fixed by now.

There are still plans to port the client to Linux, but I do believe the plan to do so for MacOS was ultimately canned. There is a client called G3 Torrent that almost like a carbon copy (though it was in development long before µTorrent) that is written in strictly in python and has low RSS/CPU usage. Another nice one is Rufus though it had this issue with redrawing the entire window every few seconds that just drove me up the wall.

So i heard utorrent and azuerus where banned from a lot of private clients why is that?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-03 14:01

uTorrent is closed-source shitware. It ripped off Azureus and recoded for Windows because it doesn't have 70 OS's demands to meet.

The coders and administrators are fucking assholes and they have snuck code in behind user's backs without changelog mention.

Not to mention it rails your hard-drive and there are no tweaks to resolve that.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-03 14:33

µTorrent is a wild card of sorts. There were serious allegations that the code was stolen from G3 Torrent and the client included spyware but none of this can be disproved as the source is obviously closed. Something in me doesn't trust an author who sells out to PeerFactor SARL.

I use Bittornado. :p

Lol - it 'ripped off Azureus'?? Azureus is java shitware, utorrent isn't, dumbfuck.

Right, Azereus is indeed Java shitware! But uTorrent is just shitware, not java shitware!
