srsly,

do they expect me to pay for a codec?

If you do a little searching you can find the last free version they made. It didn't really do all that much for me. I think they have a link to it at the cccp project wiki. I'll do a little searching for ya in a couple minutes.

arhive opened, i get something like coreavc.ax

what do i do with it?

Name: Anonymous 2006-05-10 16:07

Place it where you want to keep it.
Then it needs to be registered via regsvr32.exe

If you're still having problems with h264 -> CCCP.

C- C- Captain Picard!

But... CCCP uses ffdshow for decoding h264, CoreAVC is less CPU intensive.

Yes. However if the OP is http://dis.4chan.org/read/comp/1146979249/
which I think he is, CCCP guys are probably able to help him.

The CoreAVC posted here is pretty old anyways. The new CCCP could be worth a try.

FFDSHOW is better because it provides a handful of quality enhancing filters. The sharpening filter for example. It takes CPU (you bought it to use it though so it should be not a big problem), but the subtle improvement is worth every cycle when you're watching your fansubs.

ffdshow is great, I agree, but there are reasons to seek out coreavc

Post list of reasons please, I'm interested on checking it out.

Name: Anonymous 2006-05-12 7:00

OK i have registered it, how do i get around VLC actually using it? it's still using h264, and WM is using the ffdshow.

Less CPU to decode.

Nothing works better than it does in FFDSHOW/does it have any new or different features?

No, just less cpu, I can't even watch anything h264 in ffdshow on here but with coreavc I get loads of dropped frames and I can at least watch it. If you're not OMGRICH and don't have good enough hsrdware CoreAVC is the way to go.

Name: Anonymous 2006-05-12 11:55

Just disable postprocessing if your CPU is too slow to decode H.264.

ghmm
i have a 2.8ghz p4@2.95...

not fast enough to even watch video? holy fuck dude... (i can play doom3 at high quality)

i guess i will just stick with the VLC-embedded stuff then
the only problem is VLC's integrated subs suck, and WMPC uses ffdshow (fucken video lags even postpro is off, although in general the PC still performs ok during the playing of said video)

srsly, wtf?

Name: Anonymous 2006-05-12 14:00

ill just use ffdshow, thanks.

Don't change these.
