Windows XP serial # question.

I found a computer in my neighbor's trash the other day and tried to salvage what I could from it.

Obviously I couldn't find a reboot/windows installation disk, but there is a windows serial number sticker on the side. I was wondering if I could use the serial number I found on the side of the comp with a different windows install disk.
