Simply put, I want to make my computer more 1337, for the sake of being 1337. So, to start, what are some of the 1337 programs I should use/learn to use?
And so on and so forth. I know this is a stupid thread, but this has been on my mind for awhile. Just name every 1337 program you can think of that would be useful for your average computerer.

Reformat and install Plan 9. Then acquire a bunch of cheap machines, install plan 9, make sure they have good (at least 100MB full duplex) NICs and make them into a distributed parallel processing unit that you can offload work from your primary machine onto.
Or stick with Windows, and get good netwirk analysis tools like Ethereal, Sam Spade, etc. Track down spammers, look for people leeching your WiFi, whatever

X-Chat for IRC, or maybe SysReset. AIM and MSN are fail.
uxtheme.dll patch for skinning.
And yeah. Windows is fail, but not using shitty programs will lead you to the road to 1337-ness~

Well, I want to use some chat program so I can talk with other people who use AIM and such and such. I use Trillian right now, are there any other alternatives?
Thanks! Right now I am still a little shaky on switching away from Windows, but I'll definitely think about it. All these versions of Linux or Unix or whatever make me confused about which to pick, but I know there are already threads about that, so sticking to programs for now is fine.
