Hey 4chan,
I recently built a new computer (Athlon 4800+) with XP Professional and installed the motherboard drivers. Shortly after that I started installing SP2, and at around 75% it hung up on "Performing Cleanup" and I was forced to reboot. After rebooting I was brought to a screen that said the installation failed/corrupted and it was reversing the process/removing the installed portion of SP2. After that finished, the account login screen for Windows started up, but it crashes before any accounts appear. Even if I try booting into safe mode the same happens.
I read on Google that it was a problem with the processor or something, but there were no solutions given. Even if I reformat and reinstall Windows I think the problem would just reoccur; does anyone have any idea how to remedy this?
