System Monitoring Programs

For a while, i've been using Rainmeter to display CPU/RAM and In/Out network speeds.

Just the other day, I reinstalled windows, and with this fresh start, I'd like to keep track of how much I've downloaded/uploaded total.

My problem is, Rainmter only keeps track of traffic in RAM, and writes it to the .ini when it shuts down ... and only if it shuts down properly. That means that if ever my computer crashes (or even if Windows shuts it down improperly while shutting down itself for reboot) the measure of how much was up/downloaded is lost -- this could mean potentially tens of gigs gone from record.

SysMetrix, as another possibility, only keeps track of network transfer totals during the current boot session. It doesn't save to .ini or any other permanent location. As soon as you reboot, it resets itself.

I'm not sure about Samurize, and I tend to be picky about what software I install on a brand new WIndows install. So opinions would be nice about this program.

So ... whatcha guys think? Any ideas or suggestions?

Why not just send an Email to the RIAA requesting a prompt anal rape?

Conky

will net limiter display stats on the desktop? Customizable theme?

Conky will do the above?

Oh, Conky is a Linux app. So how about cygwin ... resource-lite emulator?

Also, would Conky, Net Limiter, or perhaps Samurize, be able to filter out the data incoming/outgoing to local network addresses?

Let me reiterate: Windows-able Customizable desktop-display program that'll record network traffic beyond single boot sessions.

Or perhaps I download files that aren't illegal (but not really legal either) such as anime.

Don't change these.
