Can't find USB 2.0 port!

Name: Anonymous 2006-05-01 12:38

My computer has 8 USB ports, and one of them is apparently usb 2.0 because i checked the device manager. now, how the hell do I figure out which one is the usb 2.0? they all look the same and there's no special label.

thanks!

1. wet down the appendage of your choice
2. put it in each usb port in turn
3. the one that hurts the most is 2.0
4. ???????
5. profit

It will likely be set apart physically from the rest.

no luck there unfortunately but thanks :)

could they ALL be usb 1.x and 2.0 compatible? the entries in the device manager dont seem to correspond to any particular ports.

yes, they are. USB 2.0 is kinda screwy in that there's one high-speed "port" that's shared by all the real ports on your mainboard, with USB 1.1-compatible speeds being managed by good ol' OHCI or UHCI hosts (one for every two ports).
