Wireless-G Router with weak signal

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-26 20:58

Hey. I just picked up a D-Link Wireless-G router and stuck it downstairs. I'm just up the stairs and around one corner, and it tells me I'm getting 18-24Mbps with "Low" connection strength.  And that's with the usb adaptor situated as close to the door as possible.  What's the deal? My old linksys had a much stronger signal until it fried. It was 802.11b, but that shouldn't make a difference at a distance of maybe 15m.

You really are an idiot, aren't you? The whole reason people modify or write new firmwares (for lots of things, not just routers) is to add extra features or improve performance. Want VPN client/server features? Want to use the router as a repeater? Want QoS and load balancing? Well those are just a few things third-party firmwares make DLink routers do that they ordinarily can't. Try doing some research before you spew any more "ZOMG U MUST BE A L33T LOONIX FAGGOT TO USE ANYTHING WITHOUT A MICROSOFT LOGO ON IT!" drivel, please.
