How in the fuck do I change from romanji to kana input in Mac OS X with a Japanese keyboard (using the keys, not the GUI)?

Yeah the key doesn't do anything. It's like the OS doesn't recognize that there should be a key there, so it just ignores it. It works though - I get an event when I use xev and hit it.
