The idea of a Portable Wikipedia

Today, I thought of the idea of a portable device, much like a PDA. A PDA that could store all of the world's openly known knowledge of which you have access in the palm of your hands.

Also, with such a device i've imagined that it would update automatically (either by wifi or wired connection) so that way you could always have the newest and currently updated knowledge there is. Voice would be another nice touch, much easier and faster than using a mini sized keyboard.

Imagine the power in having all this knowledge with you. At any given time if you didn't know or understand something, you could search then and there, and immediately have your answer.

The only possible downfall I could see in such a device is that you'd no longer have to rely on your own mind. Why study when all the answers are there? You could know EVERYTHING, but at the sametime you might not even know how to think, because you would depend so heavily on this all-knowing portable knowledge resource. .

I think that's the way forward too. Global connectivity, so you don't have to store much locally.
