Removing IDE hard drives

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-14 23:13

Let's say I have a NTFS formatted IDE 40gb hard drive in my XP Home computer. Said hard drive simply has data on it; OS is installed on another hard drive. Is it possible to simply take out the hard drive and install it on another computer, and initialize it (but not format it as to preserve data)? Or am I simply talking out of my ass?

If there are easy ways of swapping HDs between computers, please share them.

Yes. As long as you know the Admin password.

Okay, that is good to know. Let's now presume that the computer that I want to transfer it into--though it has a free IDE cable open--uses two SATA HDDs. Once again, am I worrying too much that I won't be able to use the two types at the same time?

You can use 2 at same time

Okay, great. Thanks ANON!

Don't change these.
