Free/good 3D modelling programs.

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-13 21:16

I'm looking for a free 3D Modellng program that is fairly user-friendly, but not overly simplistic. What programs would you suggest?

No such program exists.

Age for truth; the free programs are too hardcore, the good programs are too expensive.

If you (like me) don't have the $ or a degree in CS and Graphics Design, then just forget 3d modeling; it's too expensive to enter into.

Blender.
I wouldn't call it user friendly but I reckon it's a great piece of software. There is a huge community surrounding it, so you can always get help for it. Spend a little time doing some inital training http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro so you know how to get stuff done.

I don't have a degree in CS and Graphics Design or $, but I use Blender for 3D Modeling for recreation in my spare time. It's a pretty good program, if you're willing to climb over the steep learning curve.

Blender is free if your time's worth nothing.

Blender doesn't fit the >>1's needs.  He or she said, "user-friendly".

he said "fairly user-friendly" (there are no girls on the internet)
so it all depends on what kind of a user he is

>>14 blender is almost as user-friendly as ed (the standard editor).

blender isn't nearly as good as the commercial solutions, but it's about all you got.

Don't change these.
