WiFi Help

I've got a westell model 327 w DSL modem/router and I just got a HP Pavillion  that I can't get to connect. I hooked it up directly to the router and it works fine and I doubt it's the Wifi card, it's brand new. I really don't know what's wrong and I need as much help as I can get. Save me 4chan.
