downloading files 1 at a time in a torrent

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-02 5:12

is there any setting/plugin for azureus that'll get it to download files one at a time from a torrent automatically, right now the only way i can figure out how is manually setting "high" priority till each is done.

also, is there a way to have it download a file from beginning to end, i.e. so a video can be previewed before it's done?

and if azureus can't and there's another client that can, link plz :D

Torrent by nature can't do sequential downloading. And only downloading single files makes you a moron for unbalancing the swarm. gb2/winmx/

Uhh, if you want all the files, just let the client download them. The entire torrent will finish before you'd even have gotten the first file with your method.

Write one if you want it. That's what open source is for.

The actions of one peer is not going to unbalance a swarm.

You can set it to try to download the first and last parts of a torrent first so that viewing is possible, but you can't set it to download in order.

>>4 um, no. 99% of the time the only limit on downloading a torrent is my slow connection. getting the files one at a time manually already works. i'd rather watch an episode of a series im downloading or w/e as they finish instead of waiting 2 days for the entire thing.

If your car is not to your liking you have two options other than sticking with it.
1) Modify it.
2) Build a new.

Or getting a new one... and asking for advice to see if there's anything that will better suit your needs... as he is doing.

Your best bet is just to set 'Do not download' on a load of the files, leaving only the first few... although you're not likely to get the same overall speed because you're limiting the files your client accepts pieces for. If there are lots of seeds/peers though you should be ok.
Also, if you like Azureus, try uTorrent... it's much lighter on the old resources and is pretty much the same in terms of interface.
