360 and new TV, or new computer tower

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-02 3:50

hey guys I have saved up $1600USD and have two options get a new TV and a Xbox 360 for about $400 for the Xbox360 and $800 for the TV, or build a new computer tower for $1200 to $1300.

I really love to build computers, but theres some really cool games for the
360, but my computer is 3 years old and upgrading it is useless, but I really do need a new TV my curent one doesnt have AV ports on it. but theres also some awsome computer games that are coming out and the games
I have on my computer right now dont run well. so /comp/ please give suggestions

Let's compare shall we?

2.4 ghz P4 oced to 3.0 < 3.2 IBM RISC with Three symmetrical cores, Each capable of Simultaneous multithreading (NOT EVEN COMPARABLE)

1gig pc4400 @1ghz fsb > 512 MB 700 MHz GDDR3 (You need more ram in a non-dedicated architecture)

Nvidia 6800GT < custom ATI "Xenos" chip (*chuckle* Were you serious? The Xenos beats the 6800GT on almost every stat)

200ghz Maxtor hdd > Detachable Hard Drive (O.K. I'll admit it)

20" flatscreen LCD > Nothing

Sure, using spare parts, you can build a working PC for $600. You can even build one for $400 or even $200 if you want. But it takes about $1000+ to equal or beat the 360.
