I've just recently assembled a 64-bit system and installed the x86_64 version of Fedora Core 5. I am truly unhappy with Fedora Core, and I wish to move to a different distro. However I really like how Fedora automaticly detects and mount removable media (USB, CD/DVD, Floppy) and displays an icon on the desktop. Is there a reletivly lightweight, desktop-oriented 64-bit Linux Distro with this automounting already built in that you would suggest? Maybe some sort of Gentoo offshoot?
Gentoo, Debian/Ubuntu, and SUSE seem pretty solid.

Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 64-Bit Edition are 64 bit OSes. The applications that come with them do not do much with the extra bits, but you can run your own 64 bit applications or compile with -m64 .
