Road Runner Cable and torrenting

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-25 15:39

A few months ago, I was using Charter and it did a decent job for all things internet. I moved and switched to Road Runner and it works adequately as well, except for torrenting. I'm getting horrible download speeds using both Azureus and muTorrent. I was told there was some sort of trick to fixing this, but haven't been able to find it. Help anyone?

There's a good chance Time Warner is blocking the default Bittorrent port range (6881-6889), adjust what ports are being used by your client and report back.

muTorrent 1.4
Network Options->Listening Port->Port used for incoming connections: 13600
Also, the box is checked for "Randomize port each time muTorrent starts."
-------
Hmmm, after messing around with the settings, it appears to be faster. I disabled the random port switch and set it for 6881. I also disabled UPnP and lowered by upload rate. I went from total download speed of about 5kb/s to 15-20 kb/s.
Any other advice would be great.

get utorrent 1.5 and set protocol encryption to forced. It's likley your ISP is blocking bittorrent and doing this will make it impossible for them to detect you're using BT.

When I had Road Runner I had no problems with my download speeds on torrents... But this was in Milwaukee and a few months ago.

Any way to enforce encryption using the text-only (btdownload/curses) client?

You seriously think ISPs scan packets for identifying information? All they have to do is look at traffic patterns. BitTorrent is especially easy to detect.

Use an ISP that doesn't provide a shitty service.

Blocking BT => Good service with 50% extra bandwidth.

I don't have a choice. I've heard bad things about RR before I moved, but it's the only thing offered in my apartment complex.

I did check the protocol encryption. It didn't seem to speed up any faster than what I'm getting now with screwing with the settings. Thanks for everyone's help.

Blocking BT = losing your customers and the main reason why people would want broadband. Smart ISPs love P2Ps because it's what brings them bread.

Additionally you should be certain with regards to the option of the fabric. Flower garments made from delicate material including Organza or chiffon will want far more care, http://www.portdress.net/  plus size bridal gowns  and so better select silk, cotton or perhaps polyester clothes. From time to time long gowns trouble the kids and don’t allow them to take pleasure in their freedom of  Additionally http://www.portdress.net/  Black Evening Dresses , choose a details neckline and also straight midsection http://www.portdress.net/  bridal gowns on sale .
