Give me one good reason why I would want to buy an expensive sound card from Creative when I've got this cheap one in my motherboard chipset. Even if the former accelerates DirectSound, I think it'd be better to spend what you would spend in a sound card in a faster processor than you were getting, and count on it for the sound. This way you'll also have a faster processor for everything else.

Well, if you had anything under a 5.1 channel on board sound, then I'd suggest getting a seperate sound card. If not, don't bother.
Quality can range a little from card to card, but usually you can fix that by screwing around with settings.
